‘Judge Was Absent First, Then Punished Sowore for Absence’ — Lawyer Ejimakor Urges Abuja Court to Vacate Bench Warrant
Human rights lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, has called on an Abuja court to withdraw the bench warrant issued against activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore.
Ejimakor argued that Sowore should not be penalized for failing to appear in court on a day when the presiding judge was reportedly absent. According to him, the court had earlier adjourned proceedings due to the judge's unavailability, making the subsequent issuance of a bench warrant against Sowore both unfair and unjustified.
The lawyer urged the court to vacate the warrant in the interest of justice, insisting that litigants should not suffer consequences arising from circumstances beyond their control.
