Sowore Alleges Coordinated Legal Pressure Following Court Proceedings
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that recent legal actions against him are part of a coordinated effort aimed at silencing his activities and journalism.
In a statement shared on social media, Sowore claimed that while a court was considering matters related to his bail in an ongoing case involving the Department of State Services (DSS), former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, was simultaneously pursuing separate legal action against him at a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
According to Sowore, the case is connected to reports published by Sahara Reporters concerning allegations involving Victor Egbetokun and funds reportedly linked to the Anambra State Security Trust Fund. He also referenced previous reports concerning alleged misconduct and controversial promotions within the Nigeria Police Force.
The activist described the developments as a coordinated campaign of “lawfare” and political persecution. He maintained that he would continue to challenge the cases against him through legal means and remain committed to his advocacy activities.
Sowore further stated that increased pressure from authorities would not deter him, expressing confidence that the legal challenges would ultimately fail.
At the time of reporting, the individuals and institutions mentioned in the allegations had not publicly responded to the latest claims. The matters remain subject to ongoing legal proceedings, and the allegations have not been independently verified by Southern Report.
The case continues to attract public attention as court proceedings unfold.
