The Delta State Government has moved swiftly to address growing concerns over the quality of construction work on the ongoing Isoko Ring Road project following complaints from residents of Ofagbe Community in Isoko North Local Government Area.

During an unscheduled inspection of the project site, Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Reuben Izeze, disclosed that the visit was personally directed by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori after receiving multiple complaints from community members and reports of protests over the project's execution.

Accompanied by senior government officials, including Olisa Ifeajika and top engineers from the Ministry of Works, the commissioner inspected the road despite heavy rainfall, underscoring the administration's determination to ensure quality infrastructure delivery.

According to Izeze, the governor's directive reflects his administration's commitment to accountability and value for public funds.

"Every kobo spent by the Delta State Government must deliver value to the people," the commissioner emphasized during the inspection.

He revealed that ministry engineers had previously identified shortcomings in the execution of the project and consequently issued a stop-work order to the contractor pending further review.

Residents who spoke during the inspection expressed frustration over what they described as substandard road and drainage construction, alleging that the contractor had repeatedly abandoned the site and ignored concerns raised by members of the community.

Many residents called on the state government to take decisive action, including the possible revocation of the contract if the contractor fails to meet required standards.

The latest development has been welcomed by community members, who view the governor's intervention as evidence that public feedback is being taken seriously under the current administration.

As the government prepares its report, expectations remain high that corrective measures will be implemented to ensure the Isoko Ring Road project meets the quality standards expected by residents and delivers lasting benefits to communities across the Isoko nation.
