NDC Alleges INEC Denied Party Access Code for 2027 Candidates' Upload
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) denied the party the access code required to upload the names of its candidates to the commission's nomination portal for the 2027 elections.
According to the party's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, NDC officials approached INEC to obtain the access code but were informed that the commission would "get back" to them. The party said the delay prevented it from completing the mandatory upload of its candidates before a recent court judgment affecting its legal status.
The NDC argued that its inability to upload candidates should not be interpreted as a failure on the party's part, insisting that the delay resulted from not receiving the required access credentials from INEC. The party also said it would make another request to the electoral commission while pursuing legal steps to challenge the court's decision.
INEC had earlier stated that it would officially issue access codes to political parties in line with its election timetable and has previously clarified that no party would receive such codes before the scheduled date.
The controversy comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving the NDC and has added another dimension to preparations for the 2027 general elections.
