BREAKING: Sowore Alleges DSS Arrested Journalist Covering His Activities in Abuja
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has alleged that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested journalist Zainab Sodiq and detained her at the agency's headquarters in Abuja.
According to Sowore, Sodiq's only offence was carrying out her duties as a journalist and covering his daily activities.
"Her only crime is doing her job as a journalist," Sowore said while condemning the arrest and detention.
The allegation has sparked concerns among press freedom advocates and civil society groups, with renewed calls for the protection of journalists and the safeguarding of media independence in Nigeria.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official statement from the DSS regarding the circumstances surrounding the reported arrest.
