Wanted Bandit Abubakar Usman Captured as Delta Police Rescue Kidnap Victim Alive

A woman identified as Mrs. Blessing Chiedu, who was kidnapped on July 2, 2026, along the Ani-Ifekide Farm Road in Ubulu-Uku, Delta State, has been rescued alive following a coordinated operation by security operatives.

According to reports, the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦100 million from her family.

Acting on intelligence and leveraging the Hydra Tech Surveillance System, operatives of the Delta State Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad tracked the victim's location and successfully rescued her along the Ubulu-Unor/Ashama Road.

The operation subsequently extended into the Ogwashi-Uku/Adonta Forest, where security forces reportedly traced the kidnappers' hideout. During a gun battle, a suspected gang member identified as Abubakar Usman was arrested, while other members of the group allegedly escaped deeper into the forest with their weapon.

Investigators believe the suspect and his gang may be linked to a series of kidnapping incidents in Igbodo, Umunede and surrounding communities, where families were reportedly forced to pay millions of naira in ransom for the release of victims.

Security agencies have stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network.

The arrest has reignited public discussions on the need for swift prosecution of kidnapping suspects and stronger measures to combat insecurity across the country.
